QWAK,Got a uestion on E-coli
QWAK,With all the people geting sick from E-coli infections and the advice being put out to the public being "Go to your Dr. fast, first 24 hr. for best out come" it occured to me just now that the $5.00 6 oz. bag of water soluable "Terramycin" could posably be a cheep alternitive to runing to see a Dr. as I HATE going to Doctors and HATE paying for all the tests and medications.
Question is this: What things will the "Terramycin" work for or kill and what other similar medications can I buy and stock cheeply for other similar problems. If I can just add a fiew cents worth of "Terramycin" to my morning coffee for a fiew days or some other medication WHY NOT??  the DUCK |
Re: QWAK,Got a uestion on E-coli
As I understand it, E-coli is pretty much in everybody, but there are occasional strains of it that turn killer and you may not know what that one resists.
On the net I found this about one of the worst killer strains. Looks like they keep victims from dying of the symptoms till the thing runs its 5-10 day course. Like any of the severe runs diseases people die of dehydration and in this strains' case, kidney shutdown too. Quote:
Maybe one of the more medically trained will respond, Duck. I'm not. Just another, like you, who wants to be better off than those poor folks dying in the Superdome if there is some crisis, so I'm putting together information and a good first aid kit. Including gatorade powder for rehydration with minerals. |

Re: QWAK,Got a uestion on E-coli
use antibiotics sparingly so that your good-bacteria in your guts stay strong, and your immune system too. overuse of antiobiotics is a big problem for some people and for society as a whole since it breeds "superbugs."

Re: QWAK,Got a uestion on E-coli
Terramycin is effective against gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative bacteria, spirochetes, and rickettsiae. It also works against some protozoa and large viruses. Gram-positive bacteria inclue include staph, strep, Enterococcus, Clostridium, Listeria, Bacillus, and Mycoplasma. Gram-negative bacteria include E. coli, Pseudomonas, Helicobacter pylori, Legionella, Neisseria gonorrheae, Neisseria meningtidis, H. influenzae, Klebsiella pneumonia, Salmonella enteritidis, Salmonella typhi, and others. Various spirochetes are responsible for Lyme disease, leptospirosis, and syphilis. Rickettsiae species are responsible for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and some types of typhus, among other diseases (carried by ticks, mites, chiggers, fleas, lice, and mammals).
In other words, while it's effectiveness on the various types of organisms vary, Terramycin pretty much as the bases covered for common ailments of the digestive tract and many other things (some types of urinary tract infections, eye infections, respiratory infections, some types of venereal diseases, some types of meningitis, and many other pathologies). Though not really dealing with Terramycin, here are some med links you might find useful: http://www.medicalcorps.org/pharmacy...csofChoice.htm http://www.medicalcorps.org/pharmacy/index.htm |
Re: QWAK,Got a uestion on E-coli
Addendum to previous post: You can usually buy doxycycline and amoxicillin from vet supply companies. The doxycycline is sold without a prescription for use with birds, and the formulation is supposedly suitable for humans. It kills anthrax, among other things (make sure you study up on this one, the consequences to your digestive tract of overusage can be dire). Amoxicillin is sold as a powder for fish.
Make sure you study up on dosage info. Antibiotics lose much of their effectiveness if not taken on a proper schedule. If you anticipate long-term usage (say, during an epidemic or an anthrax attack), stock up on something to repopulate your intestinal tract with good organisms (Acidophilus, Lactobacillus) after the treatment. There are alternatives to these for repopulating the digestive tract, but you really don't want to know what they are... |

QWAK,Maddie, THANKS:wavey: that was very helpfull,I knew the stuff was sort of like a SHOT GUN (wide spectrum) versus a SILVER BULET but did not know how wide it actualy was and "anthrax" is a BIG plus ,that I was totaly unawair of! Not every day you can spend $5.00 and get somthing that usefull today! Makes $5.00 for 6 oz bag an even better deal than SILVER at $2.00 X 100! I think that perhaps every one should have a bag in their survival kit! I realy LOVE this place!!!! I learn so much and get to talk to so many nice helpfull people!:cheerful: the DUCK |

Note that taking that much doxy WILL kill just about everything else in your gut, and it's extremely important to recolonize it after 60 days of the stuff. Besides the diarrhea and malnutrition a depopulated GI tract can cause, you can end up with a perforated intestine from the undigested acids. In a survival-type emergency (no acidophilus supplements available, no medical care available, etc.) the digestive tract can be repopulated by getting stool from a healthy donor into it. There are two ways to do that, neither pleasant, but the enema is probably the least of the evils. Rehydration for severe diarrhea: Make a solution of 1 quart of water, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 5-8 teaspoons of sugar. Use orally or as an enema. The fluids can also help dilute the accumulated acids in the intestines. This solution can also work with cholera (one of those diseases that plagues disaster areas). The cholera toxin causes water to flood into the gut (to dilute the acidic environment that cholera can't tolerate, and that will continue even after the cholera has been killed). The body needs the salt but won't let it in. The salt will, however, get absorbed with the sugar. |

BTW: I have found that only going to town every 10 to 14 days allows me to save a lot of FRNs! I don't spend as much on gas,I only buy what is on my list and often by the time I do go to town I find that some things on my list were realy just an IMPULSE thing and I realy diden't need them. Living BELOW my means is a habbit for me now but when I was living in the big city I spent a lot more on junk I realy did not need. the DUCK |
